Meet Deirdre Herrmann

Meet Deirdre Herrmann, a Community Connector for At Her Table.

Meet Deirdre Herrmann from Art for Heart and Mind.

At Her Table is shaped by the women who say yes to creating intentional, meaningful space - and Deirdre is one of those women. As a Community Connector, Deirdre brings deep faith, creativity, and heart to every Table she gathers. Every month Deirdre hosts a virtual gathering called Chat and Draw.

We’d love you to get to know Deirdre, so we asked her to answer some questions for us to share with you.

Q. Can you tell us a little about yourself and where you’re based?

“My faith in Jesus has kept me and continues to grow me, and His Word is in my heart and mind. I’m passionate about teaching children with extreme learning difficulties, creating art from my heart and mind to bring hope and healing, and living on a block in Murrumbateman gives me great joy.”

Q. What made you decide to step into becoming an At Her Table Host?

“I own a business, Art for Heart and Mind, and have been trying to launch it since 2018. After attending an At Her Table event and realising this was where I could run my art workshops and finding a virtual community and Host training - I decided to step in.”

Q. What do you love most about gathering women around the Table?

“Slowing down and asking intentional questions in a faith-based space feels sacred. Women are usually multitasking and listening to everyone around them. At Her Table is the opposite, and hearing your thoughts voiced is very healthy.”

Q. What is Chat & Draw, and what can women expect?

“We start with icebreakers and a warm-up drawing, then two drawing tasks, sharing, reflection, and a closing thought before finishing. It’s a space to draw, chat, and share what you got from your time at the gathering.”

Q. How did the idea for Chat & Draw come about?

“I wanted to run an online art class but didn’t have the confidence, structure, time or space. Doing the At Her Table Way Course and training to host a Table created a place for me to meet women, draw, and hold intentional conversations - and Chat and Draw was begun.”

Q. Who is your Table especially for?

“My gathering is online for anyone who wants to relax while making marks on paper and share thoughts around a set topic. If you’re stressed out and needing time for yourself, this is the space for you. There is a space for you to come and try, you will find ways to process your emotions, ideas and thoughts. Come and see!”

Deirdre’s story is a beautiful reminder that you don’t need to have everything perfectly prepared… sometimes you simply need a place, a pathway, and the courage to begin. And if you’re longing for connection, reflection, and meaningful conversation - there is a space for you.
